SERVICES
PHYSIOTHERAPY
At Amity Clinical Movement Studio, we deliver comprehensive physiotherapy consultations grounded in clinical expertise and a genuinely individualised approach to care. Our experienced physiotherapists undertake a thorough assessment to understand your presentation, goals, and contributing factors, ensuring every treatment is tailored to support meaningful and lasting outcomes.
Your physiotherapist may draw on a range of evidence-based techniques, including manual therapy, movement education, and targeted exercise prescription. Where appropriate, treatment may also incorporate individualised movement rehabilitation using Pilates equipment to restore strength, control, and function.
Techniques may include:
• Soft tissue mobilisation and joint-based techniques
• Postural re-education and taping, including kinesiology taping
• Dry needling and trigger point therapy
• Muscle energy techniques and stretching
• Vibration muscle release and proprioceptive input strategies
• Prescription of supportive aids where indicated
• Communication with your GP and referring practitioners
• Referrals to trusted allied health professionals, specialists, or imaging services as required
Your initial consultation is a critical first step. This 45-minute session allows for a detailed assessment of your concerns, followed by the commencement of treatment and development of a structured management plan. All clients are required to attend an initial consultation prior to joining our Group Physiotherapy Rehabilitation sessions.
Follow-up consultations of up to 30 minutes are designed to progress your treatment, refine your program, and support your ongoing recovery.

DRY NEEDLING
Dry needling can be a highly effective adjunct to physiotherapy treatment and may be recommended by your physiotherapist where it will support faster or more effective progress.
This technique involves the use of fine needles to target specific muscular and connective tissue structures. It is commonly used to assist with pain relief, reduce muscle tension, improve blood flow, decrease inflammation, and promote the body’s natural healing response.
There is a strong body of evidence supporting the use of dry needling in the management of a range of conditions, including acute and chronic lower back pain, neck pain, headaches and migraines, pelvic girdle pain, knee osteoarthritis, lateral elbow pain, and shoulder conditions.
At Amity Clinical Movement Studio, dry needling is used as part of a broader, integrated treatment approach. It is often combined with movement retraining, postural re-education, and exercise-based rehabilitation to address underlying dysfunction and optimise outcomes—particularly in cases of persistent or complex pain.

MOVEMENT REHABILITATION
"Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness. In order to achieve happiness, it is imperative to gain mastery of your body."
- Joseph Pilates
A key component of our approach is whole-body assessment and movement education. Where appropriate, your physiotherapist may recommend progression into our highly structured Pilates Therapy or Group Physiotherapy Exercise Rehabilitation sessions. These programs are designed to complement your physiotherapy treatment, enhance results, and provide long-term support for strength, movement, and injury prevention.
GROUP PHYSIOTHERAPY EXERCISE REHABILITATION
AND GROUP THERAPEUTIC PILATES CLASSES
Small Group Therapeutic Pilates and Small Group Exercise Rehabilitation.
At Amity Clinical Movement Studio, Movement Rehabilitation is a cornerstone of our approach to both recovery and long-term wellbeing. It is designed not only to address dysfunctional movement patterns contributing to pain and injury, but also to enhance whole-body control, strength, and efficiency—helping to prevent future issues before they arise.
Our Physiotherapists and Pilates Therapists work collaboratively to bridge the gap between hands-on treatment and functional movement. Together, they deliver evidence-based rehabilitation programs tailored to your individual needs, ensuring a consistent, high standard of care across all services.
Both our Pilates Therapists and our Physiotherapists maintain the same level of clinical expertise and attention to detail and individualised program delivery based on your presentation.
OUR APPROACH
Movement Rehabilitation at Amity focuses on restoring optimal movement patterns and building a resilient, well-functioning body. We utilise both clinical Pilates principals as well as exercise rehabilitation techniques to restore movement patterns and address underlying movement dysfunction. Sessions are facilitated by either your Physiotherapist or your Pilates Therapist.
Programs are designed to:
• Identify and correct dysfunctional movement patterns contributing to pain
• Improve whole-body strength, control, and coordination
• Enhance spinal and pelvic stability, flexibility, and joint mobility
• Develop effective activation of deep stabilising muscles, including the core and pelvic floor
• Improve posture, breathing patterns, and body awareness
• Address underlying restrictions such as joint stiffness, muscle imbalance, neural tension, or fear-avoidance behaviours
By understanding why you move the way you do, we can help you retrain these patterns—supporting both recovery and long-term injury prevention.
Why Movement Rehabilitation / Therapeutic Pilates with a Clinical Team?
A structured, clinically guided program ensures your rehabilitation is safe, targeted, and progressive. Every exercise is carefully selected and adapted to suit your needs, goals, and stage of recovery.
The use of specialised equipment provides valuable feedback to the body, improving muscle activation, control, and overall movement efficiency. Where necessary, our team will combine your movement rehabilitation sessions with physiotherapy assessments and manual-therapy techniques, creating a comprehensive and integrated approach to care.
An initial Physiotherapist or Pilates Therapist consultation is required prior to commencing Movement Rehabilitation – Therapeutic Pilates Classes.
Your initial assessment includes a thorough subjective history, and objective outcome measures, taking into account injury history, movement limitations, lifestyle demands, and personal goals. This ensures your program is appropriately tailored and aligned with your needs.
Sessions are often eligible for private health insurance rebates; however, we recommend checking with your individual provider to determine your level of cover and the most appropriate claiming pathway.
